Honoring and Tending Ceremonies

about Honoring and tending ceremonies

Honoring and Tending ceremonies focus attention on the earth or one aspect of life on the earth, sometimes as a way to honor and bless that aspect and other times to assist in healing troublesome situations.  Oftentimes these sorts of ceremonies revolve around an earth holiday, like National Honey Bee Day.  In such a case, we would come into relationship with the honey bee, then offering blessings and tending as needed.

free to attend and Open to everyone!

Anyone may attend the seasonal ceremonies.  Ceremonies will last about 1-1.5 hours depending on participation.  See the calendar link for a full schedule.  Although there is no cost to attend, some of the facilitators love coffee and tea and we wouldn't mind a cup or two.   To attend the ceremony, please register below!

"What do I bring?"  "How do I prepare?"

For Honoring and/or Tending Ceremonies:
  • Drums or Other Instruments
Bring a drum if you have one!  If not, you can bring other rhythm instruments, such as rattles,
tambourines, or even cymbals.  If none of these instruments are readily available, you can easily make a
rattle by putting some dried beans in a jar.
  • Candle
A lit candle creates a sacred space and is a signal to the spirit realm.
  • Smudging Materials
Smudging, usually by letting sacred smoke (sage, for example) move over the body or the area, is a good
way of cleansing your own energy as well as the energy of the room in preparation.
  • Altar Decorations Befitting the Tending
If you like, you can decorate a space or add altar decorations that match the subject of tending, such as
a bowl of water for honoring the oceans.  If you take from the
earth for these items, please remember to
             ask permission and offer gratitude.
